Tire Size & Lift Height
Your lift height determines what tire size fits without rubbing. Here’s the general guide for Jeep Wranglers:
- Stock height: Up to 31-inch tires
- 2-inch lift: 33-inch tires
- 2.5-inch lift: 33-inch tires (35s with trimming)
- 3-inch lift: 35-inch tires
- 3.5-inch lift: 35-inch tires (37s possible)
- 4-inch+ lift: 37-inch tires and larger
Not sure what fits your setup? Call us with your vehicle, current lift height, and what tire size you’re thinking — we’ll confirm the fit.
Wheel Offset & Backspacing
Off-road wheels need the right offset to clear suspension components and sit properly in the fender well. Too much offset and your tires stick out past the fenders. Too little and they rub the control arms.
We measure your specific vehicle and recommend the exact offset for your lift and tire combination. This is where experience matters — we’ve fitted thousands of wheel and tire setups and know what works on each platform.
Beadlock vs. Standard
Beadlock wheels mechanically clamp the tire bead to the wheel, preventing the tire from unseating at low air pressures on the trail. If you air down below 12 PSI regularly, beadlocks are worth the investment. For daily driving with occasional trails, standard wheels work great.

Wheel & Tire FAQ
What are the best off-road tires for a Jeep Wrangler?
For most Wrangler owners, the BFGoodrich KO2 is the best all-around off-road tire — it handles daily driving, rain, and trails. For more aggressive off-road use, the Nitto Trail Grappler or BFGoodrich KM3 mud-terrain tires are excellent. We help you pick based on your specific driving mix.
What is the difference between 33 and 35 inch tires?
Two inches of diameter makes a significant difference. 35-inch tires provide noticeably more ground clearance, better obstacle handling, and a more aggressive stance. They also weigh more, reduce acceleration slightly, and may require regearing on some vehicles. Most customers who lift their Wrangler 3 inches or more go with 35s and don’t look back.
Do bigger tires affect my gas mileage?
Yes, but less than most people expect. Going from 31-inch stock tires to 35s typically costs 1–2 MPG. The weight and rolling resistance of the tire matter more than the diameter. A quality all-terrain like the KO2 in 35-inch size has less impact on fuel economy than a heavy mud-terrain in the same size.
