RAM 1500 Custom Builds — Your Vision, Our Execution
A custom RAM 1500 build starts with a simple question: what do you want your truck to do? Tow a boat on weekdays and run fire roads on weekends? Cross the state on a multi-day overlanding trip? Turn heads at every gas station and truck meet? Win a trail challenge without breaking down halfway through? Your answer shapes every decision — from suspension height to shock valving to tire tread pattern to bumper selection. And at Godspeed Off-Road, we have the expertise to make every one of those decisions count.
The RAM 1500 is one of the most capable build platforms available. The 5.7L HEMI delivers 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque — more than enough to move a fully built truck with authority. The coil-spring front suspension (and coil-spring rear on the 5th-gen DT) gives you a ride quality baseline that other trucks can’t touch. And the aftermarket support for the RAM platform is deep — there’s a quality solution for every modification you can imagine.
Our Build Process
Consultation: We sit down with you and your truck. What year and trim? HEMI or V6? Air suspension or coils? How do you use it today, and how do you want to use it after the build? We’ll show you completed builds on similar RAMs so you can see real-world results and get a feel for what’s possible at different investment levels.
Build sheet: Every modification goes on paper before we order the first part. Lift kit brand and height, shock package, wheel and tire specs, bumper and armor selections, lighting package, gear ratio — it’s all documented with part numbers, pricing, and timeline. You approve the complete spec before anything happens. No surprises during the build, no scope creep, no invoices you didn’t expect.
Parts sourcing: We order from our direct manufacturer relationships — BDS, Icon, Fox, ADD, Method, Baja Designs, Yukon Gear, and more. We stock common RAM 1500 components and custom-order specialty items. Most parts arrive within 5-10 business days.
The build: Your RAM goes on the lift and our senior technician Daniel Capper — 26 years of hands-on automotive experience — oversees the build from first bolt to final torque check. Every component is installed in the right order, with the right tools, and verified before the next step begins. Wiring is routed clean, alignment is set precisely, and nothing leaves our shop half-done.
Quality check and delivery: Full inspection, test drive at multiple speeds, 4WD engagement test, and a walk-through of every modification with you. We explain break-in procedures, maintenance schedules, and what to watch for during the first few hundred miles. Your truck leaves ready.
Popular RAM 1500 Build Packages
The Street Brawler: 2-inch leveling kit, 33-inch BFG KO2s on 17-inch Method NV wheels, Bilstein 5100 shocks, tinted windows, and a subtle LED pod upgrade in the factory bumper. This is the most popular RAM 1500 build we do — a daily driver that looks aggressive, rides better than stock, and can handle a fire road or beach access trail without thinking twice. Budget: $3,500-5,000.
The Trail Machine: 3.5-inch BDS lift, 35-inch tires on Fuel Rebel wheels, Fox 2.5 DSC coilovers, Icon Delta Joint UCAs, ADD Stealth Fighter bumper with Warn winch, 4.88 regear, N-FAB rock sliders, and a Baja Designs Squadron Pro lighting package. This is a RAM built for purpose — it’ll handle Florida sand, Carolina mountain trails, and the Rubicon if you trailer it out west. Comfortably daily-drivable between adventures. Budget: $14,000-20,000.
The Overlander: 3.5-inch lift, 35-inch all-terrains, roof rack with rooftop tent, rear swing-out bumper with tire carrier, dual-battery system, onboard ARB air compressor, Dometic fridge with bed-mounted slide, auxiliary lighting array, and a sPOD switching system to manage it all. The RAM’s cab space, bed size, and HEMI torque make it an ideal overlanding platform — especially for Florida owners who want to run the Outer Banks, Blue Ridge, or Trans-Florida trails without depending on campgrounds. Budget: $18,000-28,000.
The Show Truck: 6-inch lift, 37-inch tires on custom-finished wheels, 5.13 regear, color-matched Fab Fours bumpers, custom interior accent lighting, full underbody LED kit, ceramic-coated exhaust, and obsessive attention to detail on every visible surface. These builds take 5-7 days and demand a technician who treats every bolt as a design element. If your RAM is going to SEMA, a truck meet, or you just want to own the most impressive truck in your zip code — this is the build. Budget: $22,000-40,000+.
Why Build Your RAM at Godspeed?
We’re specialists. We build trucks — 4x4s, lifted trucks, off-road vehicles — every single day. When your RAM comes into our shop, it’s not a side job between oil changes and brake pad replacements. It’s the kind of work we do best, done by technicians who’ve seen every generation of RAM 1500 and know every platform-specific quirk.
Building under one roof means your lift installer knows what bumper is going on, your regear tech knows what tire size is coming, and your lighting installer knows where the bumper’s wire pass-throughs are. That coordination doesn’t happen when you’re bouncing between three different shops. One team, one build, one truck that works as a system.
