Whether you’re running a 2021+ 14th-gen with the 3.5L EcoBoost or a classic 12th-gen with the 5.0 Coyote, Godspeed Off-Road has the experience and the parts knowledge to get your F-150 sitting exactly where you want it.
We’ve installed hundreds of lift kits on F-150s at our Sarasota shop, and we’ve learned what works — and more importantly, what doesn’t. A lift kit isn’t a bolt-on accessory you pick off a shelf. It’s an engineered suspension system that changes your truck’s geometry, and it needs to be matched to your tire size, your driving style, and your intended use.
F-150 Lift Options by Height
2-Inch Leveling Kit: The most popular starting point. A leveling kit removes the factory rake, giving your F-150 a more aggressive stance while fitting 33-inch tires without rubbing. We typically use ReadyLIFT or Rough Country spacer kits for this application — straightforward installation, usually completed in a few hours. 2.5 to 3.5-Inch Lift: This is where things get interesting. At this height, you’re moving beyond spacers into proper suspension components — new coilover assemblies or strut extensions up front, add-a-leaf or block kits in the rear. A 3.5-inch lift on an F-150 comfortably clears 35-inch tires and dramatically improves approach and departure angles. We recommend the BDS 4-inch system or the Icon Stage 2 kit for this range — both retain excellent on-road manners while unlocking real off-road capability. 4 to 6-Inch Lift: Full suspension lifts that replace your factory control arms, add new crossmembers, and completely re-engineer your F-150’s suspension geometry. At 6 inches, you’re running 37-inch tires and your truck looks like it rolled off an SEMA show floor. These builds require re-gearing (5.13 ratio for 37s), extended brake lines, and CV axle upgrades. F-150-Specific Considerations
Aluminum Body (2015+): Starting with the 13th generation, Ford moved to an aluminum body. This means your F-150 is lighter than its steel-bodied predecessors, which actually helps with lift kit performance — less unsprung weight means better shock response and handling. However, it also means body mount modifications need to be done carefully to avoid galvanic corrosion between aluminum and steel hardware.
Independent Front Suspension: Every modern F-150 runs IFS with coilover struts. This gives you a comfortable ride but requires more precision during lift installation than a solid-axle truck. CV angles, ball joint geometry, and alignment specs all need to be within tolerance after the lift. We’ve seen plenty of trucks come in from other shops with premature CV joint failure because the lift was installed without checking these angles — that doesn’t happen here.
Electronic Systems: Later-model F-150s with electronic-locking differentials, adaptive cruise control, and forward-collision sensors need recalibration after lifting. We handle all of this as part of the installation — you won’t drive out with warning lights on your dash.

What to Expect
A leveling kit or 2-inch lift is typically a same-day job. A 4-inch suspension lift takes 1-2 days. Full 6-inch builds with regearing and tire/wheel packages run 2-3 days.
