Custom Jeep Wrangler Build in Sarasota

Every Wrangler build tells a story. Maybe yours starts with a stock JL rolling off the dealer lot, or maybe it’s a barn-find CJ that hasn’t turned a wheel in years. Either way, the destination is a Wrangler that does exactly what you need it to do — whether that’s conquering Florida’s sugar sand, turning heads at Jeep Beach, or handling a cross-country overlanding expedition with confidence. At Godspeed Off-Road in Sarasota, custom Wrangler builds are what we do best.

Our Build Process

A custom build isn’t a parts list — it’s an engineering exercise. Every modification affects something else. Bigger tires need regearing. A lift changes steering geometry. A winch adds front-end weight that affects springs and shocks. Our job is to think through these interactions before the first bolt comes off, so your build works as a cohesive system rather than a collection of individual upgrades that fight each other.

Consultation: Every build starts with a conversation. We want to understand how you use your Wrangler, what frustrates you about it now, and where you want to take it. Are you building for weekend trail runs at Hard Rock or Croom? Long-distance overlanding? A show-stopping daily driver? The answer shapes every component decision that follows.

Build planning: Based on your goals and budget, we spec every component — from lift height and tire size down to control arm bushings and sway bar links. We lay out the complete build so you see what’s included, why each piece matters, and how the components work together. No hidden costs, no “oh, you’ll also need this” surprises mid-build.

Phased builds: Not every build needs to happen at once. We frequently plan builds in phases — lift kit and tires in phase one, regearing and lockers in phase two, bumpers and armor in phase three. Phasing lets you spread the investment over time while ensuring each phase is complete and functional. We plan the phases so that later work doesn’t require undoing earlier work.

Execution: Our lead technician, Daniel Capper, brings 26 years of automotive experience to every build. Every fastener is torqued to spec. Every wiring connection is soldered and heat-shrunk, not twist-and-tape. Every alignment and geometry setting is measured and recorded. We build your Wrangler the way we’d build our own.

What’s Possible

The Wrangler platform is one of the most modifiable vehicles ever made. The aftermarket support is staggering — from subtle, OEM-plus upgrades to ground-up transformations. Here’s a sampling of what we build regularly:

The Daily Driver Plus: A 2.5-inch lift on quality springs and shocks, 35-inch all-terrain tires on 17-inch wheels, front and rear bumpers with a winch, LED lighting upgrade, and a regear to 4.88. This is the most popular Wrangler build we do — it transforms the capability and presence of the vehicle while remaining completely livable as a daily driver.

The Trail Machine: A 3.5-inch suspension system with adjustable control arms, 37-inch mud-terrains, front and rear lockers, rock sliders, full skid plates, a 10,000-pound winch, and onboard air. Built to handle Florida’s most challenging trails and travel-worthy enough for the Rubicon Trail or Moab.

The Overland Explorer: Moderate lift with long-travel suspension for comfort, rooftop tent, rear storage system, dual-battery setup with auxiliary power for camp, LED light bars, a fridge/freezer, and communication equipment. Designed for self-sufficient multi-day adventures where the Wrangler is your basecamp.

The Show Stopper: Color-matched components, custom paint, bespoke interior touches, coordinated lighting, and obsessive attention to detail. Every wire hidden, every bolt grade-8, every surface finished. These builds aren’t just functional — they’re rolling works of craft.

The Restoration: Older CJ, YJ, and TJ Wranglers brought back to life with modern components. Frame-off restorations with upgraded axles, fuel injection conversions, modern wiring harnesses, and creature comforts that the original designers never imagined. Keeping the soul of the classic Jeep while making it reliable and capable by today’s standards.

Why Build at Godspeed

We’re not a volume shop pushing cookie-cutter kits. We don’t make money on manufacturer kickbacks or push parts you don’t need. Our build process starts with your vision and works backward to the components and labor required to make it real. Every recommendation is based on experience — we’ve seen what works, what fails, and what’s worth the investment.

Dan Marchiando brings 33 years of manufacturing expertise to the business side — quality control isn’t a buzzword here, it’s a deeply ingrained discipline. Daniel Capper’s 26 years of hands-on automotive experience means your Wrangler is built by someone who understands the engineering, not just the installation instructions.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a custom Wrangler build take?

Timeline depends entirely on scope. A lift-and-tire package can be completed in one to two days. A comprehensive build involving suspension, drivetrain, armor, electrical, and lighting typically takes one to two weeks. Full restorations can span several weeks to months. We’ll give you a realistic timeline during the planning phase and keep you updated throughout.

Can I supply my own parts for a custom build?

We’re happy to install customer-supplied parts, and we’ll be upfront about any compatibility concerns. However, we can’t warranty parts we didn’t source — if a customer-supplied shock fails, the warranty claim goes through the customer, not through us. For a cohesive build, we recommend letting us spec and source the components to ensure everything works together.

Do you work on older Jeep Wranglers — TJ, YJ, CJ?

Absolutely. We love working on the older platforms. TJs benefit from many of the same aftermarket components as JKs. YJs and CJs have their own dedicated aftermarket ecosystem. Restorations and modernizations of classic Jeeps are some of our most rewarding projects.

What’s a realistic budget for a custom Wrangler build?

Builds range widely based on scope. A basic lift-tire-wheel package starts at one level. A comprehensive trail build with regearing, lockers, bumpers, and a winch represents a higher investment. Full restorations or show builds are at the upper end. We’ll give you a detailed quote during the planning phase, and phased builds let you spread the investment over time.
