Ford F-150 Bumpers & Armor — Protection That Looks as Good as It Performs

Your F-150’s factory bumpers are designed to meet crash safety standards and look good in a dealer lot. They’re not designed to take a hit from a stump, protect your radiator on a rocky trail, or mount a 12,000-pound winch. If you’re building your F-150 for off-road use — or you just want the aggressive, purpose-built look of heavy-duty steel bumpers — aftermarket bumpers and armor are the upgrade that transforms your truck from a lifestyle accessory into a legitimate tool.

At Godspeed Off-Road, we install bumpers, rock sliders, skid plates, and body armor from the best manufacturers in the business. Every installation is done properly — welded mounting points where needed, wiring routed cleanly, sensors relocated or integrated, and everything torqued to spec.

Front Bumper Options

Addictive Desert Designs (ADD): Our most popular front bumper brand for F-150 builds. ADD bumpers are CNC-cut from plate steel, fully welded, and available in multiple configurations — full-width with a bull bar, mid-width for a cleaner look, or stubby for maximum approach angle. Their Stealth Fighter and Venom series integrate cleanly with factory fog lights and parking sensors. ADD also offers aluminum bumpers if you want protection without the weight — smart choice for EcoBoost trucks where every pound matters.

Fab Fours: Known for their distinctive grumper-style designs that replace both the bumper and grille as one integrated unit. The Fab Fours Vengeance is a head-turner that also packs serious protection. Their Matrix series offers a more subtle approach with pre-cut light mount provisions and winch compatibility. All Fab Fours bumpers come with a lifetime structural warranty.

Iron Cross Automotive: Solid mid-range option with clean lines. Their RS series front bumper is a full-replacement unit with integrated light mounts, D-ring mounts, and an optional winch plate. Great value for customers who want protection without the premium price tag.

Ranch Hand: The working-truck standard. Ranch Hand bumpers are built like bridge steel — heavy, rugged, and virtually indestructible. If your F-150 works on a ranch or job site and takes real-world impacts, Ranch Hand is the investment that pays for itself when a deer or fence post finds your front end.

Rear Bumpers

The rear bumper often gets overlooked, but it’s critical for trucks that see trail use or towing. A steel rear bumper protects your tailgate, fuel tank, and exhaust components from rear impacts. Most aftermarket rear bumpers also include integrated D-ring mounts for recovery, LED reverse lights for better visibility, and cleaner hitch integration than the factory setup.

We install rear bumpers from ADD, Fab Fours, Chassis Unlimited, and LEX Offroad. If you’re towing, we’ll make sure your rear bumper doesn’t interfere with your hitch setup or trailer wiring.

Rock Sliders and Step Bars

Rock sliders protect the most vulnerable part of your lifted F-150 — the rocker panels between the front and rear wheels. A direct hit from a rock or log to your rocker panel can crumple sheet metal, damage cab mounts, and create a repair bill that makes a set of sliders look cheap.

We install both bolt-on and weld-on sliders depending on your build and preference. Bolt-on sliders from companies like N-FAB and Go Rhino mount to factory frame points and can be removed if needed. Weld-on sliders from White Knuckle Off-Road and Rogue Racing are permanently attached to your frame — they become structural and can handle jack points, hi-lift mounting, and sliding across rocks without budging.

For trucks that primarily need a step (rather than armor), running boards from N-FAB or Westin provide a clean, functional stepping surface without the bulk of full sliders.

Skid Plates and Underbody Protection

Lifting your truck raises your vital components — engine, transmission, transfer case — higher off the ground. But bigger tires also mean you’re driving over bigger obstacles with more confidence. Skid plates protect everything underneath when that confidence meets a rock you didn’t see.

We install underbody skid plate systems from RCI Metalworks and CBI Offroad — full coverage for your oil pan, transmission, transfer case, and fuel tank. These are 3/16″ to 1/4″ steel or aluminum plates that bolt to factory and reinforced mounting points. They’re designed to deflect and slide over obstacles, not absorb impacts that stop you dead.

Winch Integration

If your build includes a winch, your front bumper needs to accommodate it — and the bumper’s winch plate needs to be rated for your winch’s pull capacity. We install Warn, Smittybilt, and Rough Country winches from 9,500 to 12,000 pounds. A winch adds roughly 80 pounds to your front end, so we’ll factor that into your suspension setup during the consultation.

Bumper and armor upgrades pair well with a lighting upgrade — most aftermarket bumpers include pre-cut mounting provisions for LED light bars and pods. We also recommend combining bumper work with suspension upgrades if you’re adding significant weight to the front of your truck.
