FlatLink E Expert Version Winch Shackle Mount Assembly Anodized Gray Factor 55
The FlatLink E (Expert) is a variation of our popular foldable standard FlatLink winch shackle mount. The FlatLink E provides a means to eliminate the conventional winch hook and replace it with a safer and more secure screw pin shackle resulting in a Closed System Winching operation.
The large pear shaped shackle mounting hole allows for attachment to either the pin or bow end of common screw pin shackles, as well as common OEM recovery points. This makes the new FlatLink E more versatile than the current FlatLink design, but it also adds the possibility of a dangerous shackle side loading condition (See Picture), especially during momentary slack conditions. A shackle side loading condition is not possible with our standard
FlatLink shackle mount due to the shackle pin mounting constraint. For the recreational off roader we highly recommend the safer standard FlatLink product, not the FlatLink E. This way the winch operator does not have to monitor whether the shackle may have shifted and rotated in the recovery tackle.
The FlatLink E is only available in the Military Specification Anodizing (Mil-A-8625 F Type III) hard anodized gray finish.

The thicker aluminum bar results in a larger outer fillet radius for the synthetic rope to slide against. This results in less stress on the rope fibers during high angular pulls, increasing the life of your synthetic rope.The 1.0 and 1.5 fairleads are the industry’s first Hawse fairleads compatible with larger 1/2 inch diameter rope tube thimbles.
The rope slot height opening is taller to allow the larger 1/2 inch tube thimbles to pass through. There is also a machined outer corner chamfer to reduce rope stress for those than plan on using the winch as a front suspension suck down device. These fairleads come in a durable MIL-A-8625F TYPE III gun metal gray hard anodized finish with a laser engraved logo.
What is the best surface finish for Hawse aluminum fairleads? Without a doubt it is a Type III hard anodized coating. Not cosmetic Type II anodized finishes, not powder coated, and not raw or polished aluminum. Why? Because a hard coating can resist the abrasion damage from a dirty/gritty synthetic winch rope rubbing across it. Especially during extreme side pulls where rope fiber stresses are extremely high. A Mil-A-8625 Type III hard anodized finish leaves a .002 inch thick Al2O3 ceramic coating that is in the top 5 hardest materials known to mankind. Not too far away from diamond hardness actually.
Another valuable material property from hard anodized coatings are the low coefficients of friction. Low friction = lower rope heat. Only drawback? Hard anodizing is not offered in typical bright and fancy anodized colors. All Factor 55 fairleads only come in Mil-A-8625 hard gray finishes. Not fancy, but it is the proper finish to extend the life of your synthetic rope.

The reason for this is depending on your vehicle, bumper, and fairlead mounting thicknesses the shank length of the bolts may need to be longer or shorter to prevent the bolts from contacting the body of your winch. In most cases the mounting bolts that are supplied by your winch manufacturer are adequate in strength and length. In some cases longer bolts are required and 3/8 inch Grade 5-Grade 8 bolts in 1.25-1.5 inch shank length is a good starting point for fitment. 7/16 inch bolts may also be used. The ProLink Bridle provides winch owners with a means to replace the conventional winch hook with a safer and stronger screw pin shackle/D-ring.The ProLink Bridle is a multiple shackle mount product designed for winch cables. The ProLink Bridle is a specialized commercial product designed primarily for the towing industry.
The three individual shackle mounting holes allow the winch operator to mount fixed length bridle links to the outside positioned holes for common bridle towing, as well as a single centered shackle mounting point for a conventional single shackle recovery point. Dedicated shackle mounting points prevent dangerous shackle side loading conditions due to the pivoting feature of the shackle pin mounting hole. This allows for Closed System Winching techniques to be applied.
For commercial high repeating bridle towing, dedicated self centering shackles result in a safer means to bridle tow. This ProLink Bridle operation is similar to fish plate towing used in the ship towing industry where boat yaw is undesirable.
