Toyota Land Cruiser Lift Kits

The Land Cruiser’s full-time four-wheel-drive system, solid rear axle (200 Series and earlier), and legendary reliability make it one of the most rewarding platforms to lift. We install 2–4 inch systems that maintain the Land Cruiser’s on-road composure while dramatically improving off-road clearance and capability. The key is matching components to how you use the truck — overland touring, trail running, or expedition-level builds each call for different shock valving, spring rates, and geometry corrections.

2–3 Inch Lift

The most popular lift height for Land Cruiser owners. A 2–3 inch lift clears 33-inch tires on the 200 Series and 285/75R17s on the 250, opens up departure and approach angles for trail use, and maintains the factory ride quality that makes Land Cruisers such capable long-distance machines. We use Old Man Emu, Icon Vehicle Dynamics, and Dobinsons springs and shocks calibrated specifically for the Land Cruiser’s weight.

4+ Inch Lift

For 80 Series and 200 Series owners building dedicated trail or expedition rigs. A 4-inch lift fits 35-inch tires and transforms the Land Cruiser’s capability on technical terrain. These builds involve long-travel shocks, extended brake lines, and careful attention to steering geometry. On the 80 Series with solid front axle, this is where the platform truly shines off-road.

Toyota Land Cruiser Leveling

Many Land Cruiser owners — especially 200 Series — simply want to eliminate the factory rake from the KDSS system and level the truck for a better stance and slightly larger tires. We install spacer kits and upgraded coil springs that level the ride height without affecting KDSS operation. It’s a clean, reversible upgrade that transforms the truck’s appearance.

Toyota Land Cruiser Re-Gearing

The Land Cruiser’s factory gearing is optimized for the stock tire size. Move to 33s and the truck is workable but noticeably slower. At 35s, re-gearing becomes essential for maintaining the drivability and towing capability the Land Cruiser is known for. We install 4.56 gears for 33-inch tires, 4.88 for 35s, and 5.13 for 37s. Every gear install includes proper setup with contact pattern verification and break-in protocol — the Land Cruiser deserves nothing less.

Wheels, Tires & Armor

The Land Cruiser community has strong opinions about wheels and tires — and for good reason. We fit wheels from Method Race Wheels, SCS (Stealth Custom Series), and Relations Race Wheels that complement the Land Cruiser’s clean lines rather than fighting them. For tires, BFGoodrich KO2s, Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws, and Nitto Ridge Grapplers are the proven choices for Land Cruiser owners who need all-terrain capability with on-road manners.

Armor and protection for the Land Cruiser platform includes front bumpers, rock sliders, and skid plates from brands like CBI Offroad, Dissent Offroad, and Ironman 4×4. On the 200 Series, a properly designed front bumper also serves as a platform for a winch and driving lights — essential equipment for serious overlanding and expedition builds.

Brands We Install for Toyota Land Cruiser

Old Man Emu (ARB), Icon Vehicle Dynamics, Dobinsons, Fox, Bilstein, Method Race Wheels, SCS Wheels, BFGoodrich, Nitto, CBI Offroad, Dissent Offroad, Ironman 4×4, Baja Designs, and Rigid Industries. We select components with the Land Cruiser’s unique weight distribution and full-time 4WD system in mind.

Toyota Land Cruiser FAQ

How much does a Toyota Land Cruiser lift kit cost installed?

A leveling or 2-inch lift with quality springs and shocks is typically a $1,500–$3,000 investment installed. A full 3–4 inch suspension lift runs $3,000–$6,000+ depending on the series and components. Land Cruiser builds tend toward higher-quality components, which is reflected in the investment.

What size tires fit a lifted Toyota Land Cruiser?

A leveled 200 Series clears 33-inch tires. A 2–3 inch lift fits 285/70R17s or 33s comfortably. A 4-inch lift opens up 35s. For 80 Series with solid front axle, 35s are achievable at 3 inches with proper fender trimming. We recommend re-gearing to 4.56 for 33s, 4.88 for 35s, and 5.13 for 37s.

Does a Land Cruiser need re-gearing after a lift?

At 33s, the factory gearing is workable but not ideal. At 35s, re-gearing is strongly recommended — the Land Cruiser’s weight amplifies the effect of oversized tires on drivetrain performance. Re-gearing restores acceleration, towing confidence, and fuel economy.

Can you lift a Land Cruiser with KDSS?

Yes. The Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System on 200 Series Land Cruisers requires lift kits designed to work with the hydraulic sway bar system. We install KDSS-compatible kits that maintain the system’s function and don’t trigger warning lights. Some owners choose to delete KDSS during a lift, but we generally recommend keeping it — it’s a well-engineered system.

What makes the Land Cruiser different to build compared to other trucks?

The Land Cruiser’s full-time 4WD, heavier curb weight, and complex electronics (especially on 200 Series) require a shop that understands the platform. The aftermarket is specialized — generic truck parts rarely work. We use Land Cruiser-specific components and understand the engineering that makes these trucks legendary.
