Ford Ranger Lift Kits & Custom Builds — Sarasota, FL
The Ford Ranger is back and better than ever — and Sarasota’s off-road community has embraced it. Whether you’re running a current-gen Ranger with the 2.3L EcoBoost or one of the new Ranger Raptor builds, Godspeed Off-Road is where Southwest Florida’s Ranger owners come to take their trucks to the next level. The mid-size truck segment is booming, and the Ranger’s combination of capability, daily drivability, and a growing aftermarket makes it one of the most rewarding platforms to build. We’ve been customizing off-road trucks for over 11 years, and the Ranger is a platform we work on regularly in our Sarasota shop.
Ford Ranger Lift Kits
The Ranger’s independent front suspension and coil-spring rear (on current-gen models) respond well to quality lift kits. We install 2–6 inch systems from BDS Suspension, Rough Country, ReadyLIFT, and Icon Vehicle Dynamics that account for the Ranger’s specific front-end geometry and CV axle angles. Every lift includes a full alignment and driveline angle check — because a mid-size truck that shakes at highway speed defeats the purpose of owning one you can daily drive.
2–3 Inch Lift
The sweet spot for most Ranger owners. A 2–3 inch lift clears 33-inch tires, gives the truck a much more aggressive stance, and doesn’t require major drivetrain modifications. This is the lift we install most often for Ranger owners who split time between commuting and weekend trails.
4–6 Inch Lift
For Ranger owners chasing 35s and serious off-road clearance. These lifts involve upper control arm replacement, extended-travel shocks, and careful attention to CV axle geometry. The Ranger’s lighter weight compared to full-size trucks means a properly set up 6-inch lift delivers genuinely capable trail performance.
Ford Ranger Leveling Kits
A leveling kit eliminates the factory rake and gives your Ranger a more purposeful look. We install strut spacers and adjustable leveling struts that bring the front up 1.5–2.5 inches without changing the factory ride quality. It’s one of the most popular first modifications for Ranger owners in the Sarasota area — simple, affordable, and it opens the door to slightly larger tires.
Ford Ranger Re-Gearing
The Ranger’s 10-speed automatic is smart, but it can’t overcome the physics of oversized tires on factory gearing. If you’ve moved to 33s, the factory 3.73 gears are workable but not ideal. At 35s, re-gearing is essential. We install 4.56 gears for 33-inch tires, 4.88 for 35s, and 5.13 for 37s. Every gear install includes proper setup with contact pattern verification and precise backlash — because gears done wrong make noise forever, and gears done right are the single best improvement you can make to a lifted truck’s drivability.
Ford Ranger Wheels, Tires & Armor
The Ranger’s 6×139.7 bolt pattern shares the same lug pattern as Chevy and Toyota mid-size trucks, giving you access to a huge wheel selection. We help you choose the right combination of wheel offset, backspacing, and tire size for your specific lift height. Method Race Wheels, Fuel Off-Road, and KMC are popular in our shop. For tires, we recommend BFGoodrich KO2s, Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws, and Toyo Open Country AT3s for the mix of on-road comfort and off-road capability Florida Ranger owners need.
Armor and protection options are growing for the Ranger platform — we install front bumpers, rock sliders, and skid plates from brands like CBI, Cali Raised LED, and ARB. The Ranger’s lighter weight makes armor especially effective because you’re not fighting the same weight penalty as a full-size truck.
Brands We Install for Ford Ranger
BDS Suspension, Rough Country, Icon Vehicle Dynamics, ReadyLIFT, Fox, Bilstein, Method Race Wheels, Fuel Off-Road, BFGoodrich, Toyo, CBI Offroad, and ARB. We select components specifically engineered for the Ranger platform — not rebadged parts from other trucks.
Ford Ranger FAQ
How much does a Ford Ranger lift kit cost installed?
A leveling kit runs $300–$600 installed. A 2–3 inch lift is typically a $1,500–$3,000 investment installed, and a full 4–6 inch suspension lift runs $2,500–$5,000 depending on components. The Ranger’s mid-size platform keeps component costs lower than full-size trucks.
What size tires fit a lifted Ford Ranger?
A leveled Ranger clears 32-inch tires. A 2–3 inch lift fits 33s comfortably, and 4–6 inches opens up 35s with the right wheel offset. We recommend re-gearing to 4.56 for 33s, 4.88 for 35s, and 5.13 for 37s.
Does a Ford Ranger need re-gearing after a lift?
If you move to 33s or larger, re-gearing is recommended. The factory 3.73 gears work marginally with 33s but struggle noticeably with 35s. Re-gearing restores throttle response, fuel economy, and transmission behavior.
Can you lift a Ford Ranger Raptor?
Yes. The Ranger Raptor comes with Fox Live Valve shocks and wider suspension components. We offer Raptor-specific leveling and additional lift options that build on Ford’s factory performance suspension.
What’s the difference between a Ranger leveling kit and a lift kit?
A leveling kit raises only the front end 1.5–2.5 inches to eliminate the factory rake. A lift kit raises both front and rear, typically 2–6 inches, and involves more comprehensive suspension components. Both have a place depending on your goals.
