JK 2-Dr Brawler Rockers (Steel) Black for Jeep Wrangler JK 2007-2016. Jeep JKs are extremely vulnerable to rocker armor damage on the trail. Rugged Steel Plate Construction
Each Brawler Rocker component is fabricated entirely of CNC-laser cut, precision brake-formed 3/16 inch plate steel. The upper piece attaches to the body tube using supplied stainless steel flat-head cap screws and nut-serts. The lower piece attaches to the upper piece also with stainless steel flat-head cap screws and easy-to-install clip-nuts. Inside, an array of beefy 3/16 inch thick internal gussets provide ultimate strength to the Brawler Rocker. All fastener holes are countersunk for a flat surface using the flat-head hardware. Oval lightning holes along the length of the boatside section provide great Poison Spyder looks while allowing access to hose out mud and debris after a day on the trail. The ends of the Brawler Rockers are capped in the same 3/16 inch plate steel, in angled facets that allow up to a 40 inch tire and visually integrate with the lines of Poison Spyder front and rear JK Crusher Flares.
SpyderShell Armor Coat
SpyderShell is more than just powdercoating, its a complete system that includes the state of the art in preparation, application, materials and packaging to ensure that your SpyderShell products stay looking great for years. The SpyderShell process has been engineered to provide your Poison Spyder product with years of unmatched great looks, corrosion protection and weather-resistance. Our proprietary 6-stage system starts with media blasting the entire part, to remove contaminants and prep the metal surface for the best possible adhesion. Next, any seams are sealed with 3M Scotch-Weld to block moisture from entering and causing corrosion where the powder can Not reach. The first coat to be applied is a zinc-rich powdered black primer, which is baked on to form an impenetrable bond between the metal product and the coating. The primer is black, rather than traditional gray-so that any rock chips or trail damage are less conspicuous.
The final top coat is an industrial grade, super-durable architectural finish in semi-gloss black, which is engineered to retain its appearance through years of exposure to sun and weather. SpyderShell is a coating process unmatched by any other Jeep armor aftermarket manufacturer, for which we are confident in offering a 5-year warranty on materials and workmanship.
2-Piece Design
The upper piece of the Brawler Rocker assembly fits the rocker panel section of your Jeep exterior sheet metal like a glove, conforming to the sublte curvature of the JK and providing protection similar to Poison Spyder JK Body Armor. The lower piece incorporates an extremely strong rub rail that protrudes about 3.25 inches outboard of the Jeep body tub. The top surface of the rub rail may also serve as an entry step. Below, the brake-formed 3/16 inch plate steel angles down and inward to form a high clearance boatside for sliding off of rocks and obstacles. The lower piece attaches at the Jeep body mounts. Attaching the Brawler Rockers in this way, along several different planes, provides triangulated strength to the entire assembly. The body-mount tie-ins ensure that they are securely integrated to the strongest structural component of the Jeep the frame while also allowing the Brawler Rocker to hug the body tub as closely as possible. Please Note that Brawler Rockers are Not compatible with body lifts.

JK Body Armor is manufactured from either 3/16 inch high pressure steel plate or 3/16 inch 6061-T6 aluminum plate. Steel is preferred where the JK Body Armor will be installed by itself, without Rocker Knockers or other rocker panel protection. Aluminum is recommended where Rocker Knockers, the Stock Rubicon rocker rails or other rocker panel protection will also be used. The aluminum pieces are much lighter weight (27 lbs. lighter for the 4-door versions), yet still provide excellent load distribution characteristics when used as a secondary barrier in conjunction with external rocker rails.
Both steel and aluminum versions may be painted or powdercoated prior to installation, but only the aluminum ones may be installed raw without any protective coating. They may also be polished or clear-coated at the installers discretion. Both steel and aluminum parts are CNC-laser cut and precision brake-formed for a precise fit to the unique contours of the JK body. Bolt holes are countersunk, and stainless steel flat head cap screws are supplied for a clean, flush-surface installation. Drilling of the body is required for installation.
JK Body Armor is shipped in bare, unfinished metal. You will need to paint or powdercoat prior to final installation.
Note: Installation of this product includes drilling and installing 1/4-20 nut-serts. We provide a rudimentary tool in the kit for installing the nut-serts, however it can be tedious and frustrating to use. If you are going to be installing several products that require the use of nut-serts, you may find it worth the expense to purchase a Professional Nut-Sert Installation Tool. The tubular rocker rail is rugged 1.75 inch X .120 wall DOM structural tubing. The slider rail is fabricated from CNC-bent 1.5 inch X .120 wall DOM tubing. The space between the Slider and the main tube of the Rocker Knocker is filled with a CNC laser-cut Slider Skid. The Skid features Poison Spyder exclusive oval dimples for structural strength as well as great Poison Spyder looks. The Skid attaches with countersunk stainless steel flat head cap screws for a flush surface. The Slider and Skid mount at an angle to the main tube of the Rocker Knocker to provide boatside-like protection from the rocks while keeping the Jeep doors and body a safe distance from higher level trail hazards.
ANother quality element of the Poison Spyder Rocker Knocker is the ability to remove the outer slider skid. The outer skid is built from 1/8 inch steel and is secured to a 3/16 inch base plate welded into the slider hoop assembly. The Slider does Not rely on the skid for structure. The advantage of having the ability to remove the skid, is to allow you to replace it if it becomes damaged to a level that it has lost its aesthetic appearance or functionality. Also you will be able to customize the Sliders to match your Jeep, and to easily be able to remove it for re-finish.
Poison Spyder JK Rocker Knockers are compatible with all known suspensions and body lifts, including long arm kits. Because the Rocker Knockers mount directly to the Jeep body tub, they will lift with the body when a body lift is installed (competitors’ frame-mounted rocker guards may leave a gap on body-lifted vehicles). As an added attribute the Rocker Knocker mounting plate is designed with drain reliefs to discourage debris from collecting in the lower body cavity.
Poison Spyder JK Rocker Knockers can be utilized as a stand alone component or can be used in conjunction with Poison Spyder JK Body Armor. JK Body Armor is a secondary line of defense against off road damage to your Jeep, protecting the Jeep by reaching above the Slider level up to the door line. Rocker Knockers do Not mount or use the Body Armor for additional structure.
